Keycards

Many types of keys have been crafted in the past few years, and they have all taken on various forms – some of which don't even fit the traditional norm. For some, these keys aren't really keys, but something different altogether. What are they? Keycards.

The keycard has become a very popular security device; it's a creative and innovative alternative to the standard key which can easily fit inside your wallet. But convenience isn't the only reason behind their creation. True, they are easy to carry, and some keycards (like the mechanical holecard) don't provide additional security benefits to regular keys, but there are others that are made to enhance security.

These keycards have microchips or magnetic stripes, use radio-frequency technology, and even incorporate keypad access controls to disengage their corresponding locks. Moreover, the sophisticated technology within these state-of-the-art keycards makes them incredibly difficult to copy – a fact that only furthers their security potential.

As such, keycards are commonly used to protect those items that absolutely require high security, like finances and classified information. Quite a job for something that, strangely enough, some people still don't consider to be real keys.

Keycards may be hard to find, but you can actually have these keys made. Many capable locksmiths will be glad to take on the challenge, but they'll only be able to do so if you take on the challenge of finding them. It shouldn't be that hard to locate professionals who can make keys like these. After a few minutes searching online, you should find a promising candidate within close proximity of your home.
