Master Keys

In the late 1800s, the skeleton key was widely known as a device that could unlock several doors. Due to its design, the typical skeleton key was able to circumvent numerous warded locks, which, in spite of offering lax security, were very common at the time.

About a hundred years later, we created the modern equivalent of the illustrious skeleton key, which we fittingly dubbed the master key. This type of key, like its antique counterpart, can open multiple locks, but there are some notable differences. One is that all the locks a master key can open has to be within the same system (the masterkey system), and another is that the locks it opens do not provide minimal security. Far from it, in fact.

In the process of making things more convenient for master key owners, lock manufacturers certainly haven't sacrificed security. Though they can be opened by a single key, a master key's respective locks are considered to be among the most secure locks on the current market. Master key owners even have the added benefit of protection from unauthorized key duplication, since master key duplication is not as simple as regular key duplication.

The combination of convenience and security is the reason master key systems have become more and more popular in recent years. Not only are they now considered practical for home and office use, their technology is being used in many hotels as well. Master key electronic locks are used in most, if not all, hotel room doors, so that hotel staff can gain entry to these rooms with their master keycards.

Until now, master systems are continuing to evolve, and due to that evolution, are gaining widespread recognition and numerous applications. Lock systems that enable master key technology won't remain rarities for long due to the benefits that they offer. Soon, they'll become the norm.

Top locksmiths and security companies can provide and duplicate master keys and master keycards, and install and service master key systems of all kinds, including grandmaster key systems. Search online for your supplier/company of choice.
